Ikebukuro

So you remember some time ago when I said I went to Akihabara? Well, it's fine if you don't remember, but I did. For a quick recap, though, I mentioned that Akihabara was a place geared mostly to guy geeks in the anime department. Conversely, Ikebukuro is a somewhat similar area except geared mostly towards girls and girl geeks. But there are still some things that just everyone loves regardless.

Like arcades. (/OワO)/
Taiko game again! If only we had the shoulders of real taiko players...
Well, anyhow, since it was more geared towards girls, there were a lot more cutesy things in the claw machine games. And well, especially since we went in a group mostly comprised of girls... let's just say, everyone managed to find something(s) that s/he liked.

Awww, a cute li'l bag...

EVERYTHING ON THAT TABLE FIT INSIDE THAT BAG AND CAME FROM A CLAW MACHINE.
AWWW, YEEAAAHHHH.

After all the winnings from machines, we had dinner at Ikebukuro and then did "purikura". That's basically like an instant photo booth except, in Japan, they're much much more sophisticated and are actually fun (lol, so not biased...). After you take the pictures, you go right outside of the booth and there will be a screen where you can edit each picture. There's a time limit for most of them though, so better hurryhurryhurryAAAHHHH! And after you finish editing (or you run out of time), you can put in your email address too, and they'll send 1 or 2 of the pictures to you. Oh yea, also, since pretty much all Japanese people wish they had bigger eyes, the purikura machine will automatically enlargen your eyes (despite however big they may already be)... Oh teh powers of technology!

Purikura does monstrous things to your eyes....
Oh yea, I almost forgot, here's a picture of what I had for dinner that day at Ikebukuro. It was sorta kinda DELICIOUS. And strangely filling, considering its size...
Authentic Japanese-Mexican food! >_>
Since I met our friends at Ikebukuro after lab, I didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked. So I plan on going back some day (maybe soon?) and appropriately exploring there! Hoo-hah!

  1. I must say they really take presentation of the food in to account, more so than most other cultures.
